Protopage – AJAX personal bookmarks springboard

Here’s a gem – “Protopage”:ptp. If you’ve ever wished you could have your own customised start page, you’ll love Protopage.

They call themselves an “AJAX personal bookmarks springboard”. It’s an elegant and simple to use web application which lets you create your personal customisable start page for your home, office and any computer you’re online from. With Protopage, you can customise your start page by adding notes and link panels to act as a scratchpad, reminders and bookmarks.

The interface is pretty cool and slick. Because it uses “AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML)”:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AJAX, everything loads real quick and you can drag and resize the panels anywhere in the browser window. You can even customise the wallpaper and colours.

Here are some ideas on how you can use Protopage:

# *Write yourself a note/to-do list.* Say you’re at work and you remember that you need to pay your bills online later. So you create a panel and type a reminder. When you’re online at home you’ll see the reminder and pay your bills on time.
# *Store ideas for blogging.* Ever got an idea about something to blog only to forget about it later? Type it on your Protopage for later. Their notes even accept HTML, so you can link right to that web page that gave you the idea in the first place.
# *Daily web surfing routine.* Every morning before work begins I start my day off visiting my favourite sites. With Protopage I can create a ginormous list of sites that I can go through randomly every morning. It’s a great alternative to my bookmarks on my home computer.

According to their About page, they’ll be adding RSS support soon so you can even add news headlines to your Protopage. Now that’s something to look out for!

So give it a test drive – “www.protopage.com”:ptp

Hi Tommy, thanks for stopping by. You’ve got the distinction for being the first commenter on my new blog!

I checked out your blog too. I tried validating your page and it looks like you manage to figure out what’s wrong – congrats! Welcome to the world of blogging. Some advice – don’t get too caught up with it, otherwise you’ll be left with readers and not too many friends haha!

Appreciate you adding me to your blogroll too. Keep stopping by!
